How to read a MoonVibe compatibility breakdown
Every match shows two separate things: a chart-based tier, and, for Premium members, a readout of how your own answers line up. Here is what each one means.
Layer 1: the chart tier
The tier comes from your birth charts. It is based on how your Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars and rising sign relate to theirs (see synastry for dating).
Each tier comes with a written explanation. Tap the tier on a profile to jump to it.
Layer 2: the traffic light (Premium)
Charts can’t see what people want. The traffic light compares what the two of you have told MoonVibe. It looks at four things:
- Attachment style — the most influential signal.
- Kids — whether you want children.
- Politics — only counted as a difference when one person is progressive and the other conservative.
- Dating goals — what each of you is looking for.
Only answers both people chose to share are used. Anything either person left blank is skipped, not guessed. Religion and drug use can appear in the Values section of a profile, but they are never scored.
What the colours mean
Green
Not enough disagreement on the things compared to flag. It does not mean “perfect match”.
Amber
The two of you differ on enough of what you shared to be worth talking about early. Amber is a prompt, not a no.
Red
Reserved for a clash on a hard boundary. It is rare, and it is the one signal that overrides everything else.
Filled or hollow
A filled circle means there was enough shared information to be confident. A hollow circle reads “so far”: you will get a clearer picture as more answers are shared.
You can also mark Kids, Politics, Religion or drug use as a personal dealbreaker. Nobody else sees that, but if the other person’s answer clashes, your light turns amber.
What it deliberately doesn’t do
The traffic light does not predict whether you will fall for someone, and it does not rank people. It also does not weigh the chart tier into the colour: the tier and the light answer different questions, so they are kept apart. Treat it as a way to find out sooner, and with less awkwardness, whether you want the same things.
Free vs Premium
Everyone sees the chart tier and its written explanation. Free accounts also get the hard-boundary alert. The full traffic light, with the per-signal breakdown, is part of Premium.

Frequently asked questions
Does green mean we’re a perfect match?
No. Green means the answers you both shared didn’t disagree enough to flag. It says nothing about attraction or chemistry.
Why is my circle hollow?
Not enough shared answers yet. A hollow circle reads “so far”, and it fills in once more is shared.
Does the traffic light use astrology?
No. It compares only the answers both people chose to share. The chart tier is separate.
Is the traffic light free?
The full breakdown is a Premium feature. Free accounts get the chart tier and the hard-boundary alert.
